Ghost Town Living @ Cerro Gordo Mines, CA

Hello there!

My name is Brent and I live in the abandoned mining town of Cerro Gordo, California. The town was once the largest producer of silver for the state and produced nearly $1 billion worth of minerals.

I moved to Cerro Gordo in March 2020 with the hope of bringing the town back to life. It turns out that is much easier said than done. There have been fires, floods, earthquakes, blizzards, and more since moving up here. I have documented those adventures on video on my YouTube channel “Ghost Town Living.” There you will find updates about the town, my adventures, and life.

I have also written a New York Times bestselling book about my experience titled Ghost Town Living, which was published by Penguin Random House in March 2024.

I am working on an upcoming book about a man who left the ‘real world’ behind to keep bees in one of the most remote canyons in California. More on that here. If you’d like to stay up to date on that book, please sign up here.
